Hello lovelies! My name is Kobie, I am the founder of Desert Sage Designs. I have had a passion for design since eighth grade that slowly grew stronger as I followed all things design. This passion led me to graduate in February 2023 with a certificate in Interior Design and Home Staging.
Prior to getting my certificate for design, I staged homes for a local staging company. I started this halfway through my senior year of high school. There’s nothing like going to school in the morning and staging a house or two after lunch. It was here that I really discovered how I like to work with color and texture. I learned a lot of basic design concepts that carried over to implementing design trends and layering accessories. I had to learn how to think quick and properly plan for every space in a house. After a few months of staging, I began my schooling. I did not plan to go to school for home staging, but after experiencing the excitement the job brings, I felt it couldn’t hurt to have another certificate under my belt.
I staged homes for about a year and a half. At this point, I was ready for a change. A new place to get new experiences and push me in new ways. I had discovered Dwell Home Co. while staging and after looking into what Dwell was, I was instantly drawn in. I visited with my mom for the first time and remember saying, “I would love to work here”. A few weeks later, I saw a post that they were hiring and the rest is history. It has been three years that I’ve been at Dwell and I love it. I have been able to let my creativity take hold when working with the product and push myself to think outside the box with grouping, mixing texture, adding depth, and incorporating color. I have been lucky to have the support of my boss and coworker with my business.
My Goal is to help people create spaces they love and feel at peace in. Spaces that feel like a reflection of who you are and the family you have or want to create in your home. To me, design is much more than just putting pretty things together. It’s creating a balance between the crazy and calm parts of life. And as always, function is key. Design can’t fully succeed if there is no functionality to it.
