Baby, It’s Cold Outside
This client wanted help styling her built-ins and coffee table for Christmas. Starting fresh, I gathered all the items that matched what her vision was and stared creating. It was my first holiday styling job and I loved every minute of it.
Holiday styling can be fun and simple once you have the everyday styling set. For this design, I focused my styling around the tree candlesticks.
First, I placed the candlesticks in the taper holders to make sure they achieved the look I wanted. Second, switched the recipe in the cookbook to something more seasonal. Third, the mugs were replaced by cocktail glasses that are perfect for hosting holiday parties with friends and family. Lastly, I wanted to add a pop of traditional red to the design so I mixed the frosted pine spray with frosted berries to top it off.

For the shelves, I wanted to achieve a look that works for after the holidays. I did the styling backwards this time, starting with the holiday decor than transitioned to the everyday decor.
First, I selected art that works year round and sets the color scheme. To keep with the mountain look, I places a slate vase with non-frosted holiday stems. The deer ties in with the gold frame and brings a winter whimsy look with a tree backdrop. Next, I needed a statement vase for the bottom. This one adds great texture and lightens up the design with a soft light grey. The greens are perfect for winter and transition to everyday. The bowl adds a pretty display for ornaments to tie your shelves to the rest of the living room decor. Lastly, I needed a different element to keep the interest. Books are a great way to fill space and keep with any design you are trying to achieve. I placed a seasonal candle, matched, and snuffer on top of the books. The tree collection finishes the look with a fun, textural winter feel.
