This mantle has a design I’ve never seen before. Like a typical mantle, it is very narrow, but the height is very limited as well. Having to use only short items can be difficult when you are trying to add height variation. I incorporated five items the client already owned - round vase with abstract lines, photo of the dog, grey wood beads, black organic vase, beige organic vase.
The client wanted to bring in some blue and green to tie in with the colors already in the house. I selected art from a local artist that fit the mountain life the husband loves but is peaceful to look at. It ties in perfect with her blue pillows and blue artwork in the entryway. The books and boxes add different colors and textures to make the mantle more interesting. The books help elevate the beads to they aren’t too flat and the boxes mirror that look on the other side. The pop of eucalyptus adds color to the left and ties in the green from the art.
